Do you do this for a living like concrete work
Nope
UM, I think you forgot the follow up video?
Inspired! Thanks for the info — this is a great video & project.
Awesome!! Thanks Sandy
But did the structure hold up against the heat and flames?
considering this for an outdoor kitchen but I’m worried about using the wood around the appliances (grill, smoker)
I like it
Right on!
My contractor built a very similar outdoor kitchen, I too was concerned about grill heat on the wood framing. It has not been a problem. We used granite contertops, an inexpensive , common variety of granite is not much more expensive than concrete countertops. Looks nicer, IMO. I agree with using cedar siding, naturally rot and insect resistant. Another thing to consider. Spend the extra money ( $500 in my case ) to have a natural gas line run to your kitchen. I use my grill and side burner A LOT, I would have used 20 propane tanks in a year is my wild guess. Saves a lot of hassle, and I think it is safer. I just shut off the natural gas behind the kitchen when I am done. The only thing I am changing is that in my area(Houston), there is enough rain and moisture that even though my kitchen is totally covered, there are little mildew spots on my cedar siding even though I clear-coated right after the install. I am going to cover up the cedar on the outside with some sort of pre-fab rock siding for the look. Still recommend the cedar though, it is insect and rot resistant due to it’s high oil content. Nice video overall, good job , sir.
The natural gas idea would be a good idea, but we don’t have NG service on our property. Thanks a lot!!
amigo q ancho o grosor tienen las tablas de madera que son la base de los muebles?
fabulously done, inexpensive, fairly fast and easy, thank you!!
No problem! I’m glad you like it!
hi, where did u happen to get that sink from for the outdoor kitchen?
Hey love your video. But 1 questions where did you get that grill? Because I too am building a BBQ island and I can seem to find a grill that I can just slip it right into the island. Is there a special name for theses grills? Please let me know thankyou!
Any will work, just remove them from their base.
to float the framing could i just use 1″ tall cinder red eyed into a concrete patio? it’s sloping so ill have fun figuring how the angles… but yeah, would a base plate of cinder be a good start?
Cool idea, but gotta use pressure treated wood…
Little advice for anyone building this, use PT(pressure treated) lumber for the bottom plates. I don’t see those pieces of PT ply holding up long term.
VR8 job bro
What kind of grill is that? Is it like a half grill or something? How does it fit in?
Yep, just make sure you don’t have it venting towards the wood frame. If it does, I’d cover it with a thin piece of stainless steel.
Modern Builds welp you learn something new every day ? didn’t know you could do that…
It’s a normal grill, I just took it off of the mobile stand
What happened to the concrete counters video? It says it was removed?
More details on the sink install, plumbing and the grill install please. Looks great! Love your channel!
follow up question. does the heat from the grill miss with the framing?
lol
This outdoor kitchen is going to go up in flames! Welding blankets or concrete board will NOT stop radiant heat from igniting the wood. WOW this is extremely dangerous!
Adam Ison must be some sort of heat insulation material where the metal contacts the wood… cut some welding blanket into strips maybe and run it around where the grill sits?
You made it look so easy! Now you can come over and do one for me!
