Today on Modern Builds I’m making my second ever Live Edge slab table. I’m using a router-sled jig to flatten it out.

Where did you get the slab?
Check out Cactus Workshop, He’s got a video on Making Hairpin Legs
Thanks a lot! I’ll have to check them out.
I wonder how hard it would be to weld up some legs like that. I think the hardest part would be making the bend in the 3/8″ bar.
A local sawmill “OKC Sawmill”
be smart young man take care of your back. I used to pick up heavy wood. I’ve had to have spinal fusion. you do some great work keep it up! God bless you!
Agreed. As a now 30 year old who spent his youth skateboarding/rock climbing and thought I was invincible, watching him move that slab made my lower back cringe.
Boom. Sell for $2k.
the router bits may be a limiting factor, cheap bits are usually not great quality and will dull a lot easier.
Hi, I love your technique of using a router to level the surfaces. I have a cheapo Harbor Freight router that seems to work ok. Any reason why this wouldn’t work?
Ricky Stafford $2
u should get a pro glass cutter to cut u a custom glass counter top for it
I dont think pine’s grow that wide, maybe i’m wrong
No often. I think it’s silver maple. That’s pretty common in my area
hahaha! one thing for sure its not pine!
great design!
♻Thank you for sharing your videos.♻
Great instructions and awesome looking table. Love that fact that it’s still natural form and a cool recycle project.

Yeah! Thanks a lot!!
Looks like Hickory or Elm, great job
could be elm… it’s about the same hardness as cherry.
Adam Lindsay Walnut
Adam Lindsay elms are soft and most hickories are small
Would’ve been pretty cool if you filled that hole with clear resin (would have been a lot, but seems worth it)
It does look absolutly amazing, but I’m a little worried about the praticality of the whole? It is prone to collect all the crumbs and dust and you will never, ever get them out! I think it would have been cool to smooth out the hole, sand it down and have some sort of integrated bowl there?
This would ruin my floor
nicely done, you should have used polished brass on those legs and it would have been insane
3:22 ?
????
Looks like that table skipped leg day
By far this is my favorite upload from you
Right on, thanks dude!
might be cool to fill the hole with resin. might just fill up with dust and gross…
Matthias Wong yeah so you can still se the wood. Smart.
Shred The Knar Knar Or, a custom resin bowl that is contoured to the natural howl so it drops in snug, looks unique AND holds snack.
rsngrl I would have dug it out and put a bowl in it for snacks
+rsngrl bingo. or better yet, a copper inlay treated with some acid to bring out the turquoise patina.
+rsngrl My thoughts exactly.
Hello Mike,
Good work, hope some nearby Glass maker gives you a sheet of glass, on top of this, according to the shape of that table 🙂
Also, since you seemed to reply on the comments, can you please take some time and build this bed and show us your version:
