Remodel your bathroom easily and quick!
Today on Modern Builds, learn how to build your own mid century inspired sofa / daybed. This project had a lot of firsts for me; first half-lap joints, first doweling, and first time incorporating upholstery.

Great job my friend! 🙂
+Make it Extreme Thanks a lot!
I think it would have looked good with rounded corners and a routed edge
+Matthew Crespo Maybe, try it!
This confuses me.. “Modern builds” that shows you how to make furniture from 60 years ago.. Shouldn’t it be called “Old builds”?
and pewdiepie doesnt make pie videos, channel names dont really mean anything. Also most of the things we consider modern now were designed back in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s
+muude Modern builds could also mean modern styles. This style is kind of popular again right now.
+muude in art/design, “modern” starts in the 19th century. He could build a table from 1860 and still be technically modern.
+muude If you look at art periods, modern is not now. In a same way Art Noveau (meaning “New Art”) is no longer new. Things change. People often confuse contemporary with modern. It was new back then, it no longer is. Modern architecture and modern design was something that started in late 1800s and reigned many years of 20th c. It had over lap in mid 1900s, but then Contemporary has overtaken. Contemporary art period start in 1940s and is still reigning.
This style from the 50 s colled “modern”…like baroque,classical,neoclassical…exd
Velcro would be nice to keep the cushions in place! Awesome build! I think I might try it myself!
+robertoms yep, already on the list haha!
You like to make stuff, too

You are amazing at what you do. Super informative fast and fun. and hot!:P
If only I had any of these tools.
mad
a great way to get started is garage sales. I bought a pretty good set of starter tools by picking up a tool here and there from yard/garage sales. They wont be brand new but you’ll save a ton of money
freeman621 thanks for the tip
That true i only have hammer🤣🤣🤣🤣
You have great projects! But this inches drive me crazy every time. Seriously, USA, please get metric system =)
+vnoockthebrain No way!!
You just never tried! England tried and liked it.
Round the corners.
You can. haha
How much you paid for all the Cushing’s.
About $200-$250
Modern Builds what type of foam did you use for the sitting cushion and the back cushion?
Marry me lol jk it looks much nicer with short legs
You need a show or a store or become an interior designer.
I need more tools 😭 lol

Awesome. Awesome and Awesome. Did I mention Awesome? When I do this, and I will, I will likely make my own square/tapered 4×4 short peg-legs.
Nice dude! I think that’d look really good. Tag me in s picture if you do, I’d love to see it!
Great job. I like this. Think I’m going to make me a smaller version. A chair.

Hello – my boyfriend and I would like to make a sofa like this, but we were wondering where you got the cushions from?
Many thanks,
Bine
If you don’t have a biscuit joiner and biscuits and want to do this project you can also use a drill and some dowels for the main board at the bottom.
