DIY Entryway / Foyer Renovation Under $300 | Modern Builds
Remodel your bathroom easily and quick!
Today on Modern Builds, I'm renovating the entryway / foyer / mudroom at my cameraman Caleb's. We did all of this for right around $250 in materials and supplies. We replaced the old tile with new laminate wood floors, added homemade square MDF trim, replaced the old light fixture and popcorn ceilings, and made a killer mirror accent wall. Check it out!

Great video! The entryway looks fabulous. Luckily no mirror drama this time… 🙂
Thankfully!
Nice wall and floor, Mike (still my show…hahaha)

Be sure to test your popcorn ceilings before removing because they can have asbestos in them. Mine did.
losttribe3001 may I ask how to you check if the ceiling have asbestos? I have the same ceiling and lately the ceiling is falling apart? Like I can rip it out. Thanks.
chaosKTW I did a Google search and found a few companies in my area, so I called them and they told me what they wanted. The company I went with charged me $17 per sample, but that was 5 years ago. It did take a few weeks to get the results back. If you are not in a large of enough of an area, there are mail-in kits you can order or pick up at Walmart.
losttribe3001 thank you
Why not just drywall over it?
no further west I’m not a professional, but from home reno shows I’ve watched, if you’re covering up asbestos, there are certain ways of doing it so that it’s properly contained. I don’t think simply drywalling over it could be up to code. Also- it’s a ceiling- probably wouldn’t want to decrease the height.
Wow this looked like a show from DIY or HGTV great job. Maybe you can get picked up great job.
Hey! That’d be tight
You’re such a newb. ALways start with the ceiling and finish with the floor. That way, you don’t have ceiling texture and paint splatter ruin your new floor. The end result looks good though.
I dont think he actually did the floor first… The magic of editing!! jajaja
Teresa White exactly my thoughts. I learnt that the hard way
I’m sure he just cut and edited. He seems pretty smart
or he could have just covered the small floor space with a drop cloth…
Teresa White – Hmmm, you could’ve said it looks nice first…
Mike is awesome a true bro … no respirator, no gloves, wears safety glasses when using a nailer but not when using anything else hahahaha.
Haha! Safety gears always getting in the way
That ridiculous action montage of the drill… so awesome! Definitely stealing that for my Instagram, thanks for rocking the shirt!
came here to say the same thing…
Haha! Go for it!
Did the Walmart mirrors conveniently fit the wall height, or did you have to cut some to size?
It looks like there was a little gap, which is why they started at the ceiling. The mold at the bottom covers up the difference.
Since you used individual smaller mirrors vs one large one, did you have any issues keeping the mirrors even with each other so the reflection would look cohesive?
So cool! Love the way you used the $5 mirrors
Thank you for giving me a new idea
The addition of Caleb has def been a positive change to this channel
I’m for the people
mirror walls seem so outdated to me but i feel like if you’re going to have seams than y not cut the mirrors at least into quarters and treat them like tile and stagger them i know these exist im just suggesting for a cheap diy alternative still an improvement for sure
Pretty dope River Wild poster bro
Props to you for installing a lever-type door hardware! Fun fact; lever-type door handles are more accessible since it can be used with a closed fist. Knob-handles require pinching and isn’t operable with a closed fist, therefore not accessible.
Yes, they are required in public buildings…
Nicosarea what are you worried about him losing his fingers and not being able to pinch you ?!? 😂😂😂
That was hilarious how Caleb tried to take over! The renovation turned out great! I especially like the light fixture. Looking forward to seeing that one.
Kind of a shame to downgrade hard durable tile with laminate flooring, which won’t even stand up to water from wet boots.
Shoulda replaced with nicer tile.
could’ve use water proof vinyl planks
or painted the tile white. upcycle. tile better for entry/foyer, use wood in the living room.
I get the point was cost-saving, but I don’t think 5 square feet of hardwood would break anyone’s budget
There is compleyly waterproof laaminate flooring. It’s very durable and looks great, I use LVP, I don’t think that space was worth keeping, but all their own.
Friggin more of these budget friendly diy renovations!!!!!!!!
I neeeeedddd mmmooorrreee!!!!!
